Why Do Jehovah Witness Keep Knocking On My Door?

Why do Jehovah witness keep knocking on my door all the time with this their ministry work?  This was the exact question that was going through my mind a few months ago. It was kind of something that became worried to me, but I had no clue of it, why Jehovah witnesses keep knocking on my door. But you know what? I will just make it simple. This will help you to know something about Jehovah’s witnesses and why they are so busy with their evangelical work. Now within almost 100 gatherings of peoples, you will surely find at least 20 peoples who are Jehovah’s witnesses within their mix. Before I show you the main reason why they are increasing and why they are always busy with their door to door ministry, let me tell you how they began coming to my house…

The day was Saturday morning which was a day after Friday. On Friday, I went to work and I was so tired and very stressed. So I slept early immediately I got to the house. I did not even take a bath nor did I eat something. On Saturday morning when I was still on bed, I heard a sound, kokooko?, kokooko? I pretended I have not heard anything because I was too tied. Then the voice came again kokooko? who it is?, I ask but no replied.

I wake up to open the door. To me, I thought it was my friend Jimmy who used to say hi to me whenever he is going out for a walk. But surprisingly it was two peoples, a man, and a woman. I did not open my mouth to say a word and they just greeted me, Good morning sir, morning, I replied. And there goes the lecturing, the man begins, Hi brother, my name is James and this lady here is my wife Janet. MMS you are couples, I said. Yes, we are but far from it, we are actually Jehovah’s witnesses, said the man. Okay not bad, I do see most of your peoples all the time in the other city, I said.

Then the talkative began opening her mouth, Oh yes brother most of our peoples do teach in the city, said the woman. She continues, but today we actually came here to visit the peoples in this estate so that we can share a word with them. I hope is good news because if you ask of money, I tell you, not even $1 will I get for you, my pocket is too dry Madam, I said. She continues, no is not about money we actually want to share a word in the bible with you. This will not take more than twenty minutes of your time. Okay go ahead madam, I said.

Then she asked, can I know your name, please? Am Justice, I replied. She continues “Brother see, you have a name, my husband has told you his name and mine too. Do you think God has a name too?” I stood there quietly for almost ten seconds without saying a word and say in my mind “Ah what do I got to do with God name, just wasting my time” Then I opened my mouth and said to her “God is not living with us here, why do I have to know his surname? If you want his name then is God but for his surname, am sorry I don’t know”  Then she said, “Will you be surprised if I show you God’s real name in the Bible?” I said, oh yes I will even brag with it because most of my co-workers don’t know? They laughed and opened their bible and quote two scriptures from it which I have forgotten the quotation.

They explained it very well with other one reference from the bible. I got to knew from them that God’s name was written in the Hebrew language as “YHWH” but because we speak English they have added some vows to it which make it sound just like how Hebrews pronouns it. With all the scriptures that they quote, I later made an inquiry on my phone because I remember, I heard a friend saying Jehovah’s witnesses have their own bible. But when I checked in different bibles, all that they said was exactly what was written in those bibles too.

Five minutes later, they left and I went back to sleep. But before they left I asked them, “Before you knocked on my door, did you have any idea if someone was inside?” They said no, they just knocked to see if someone was in there so they can talk with. I said okay. Then the talkative continues, please brother, we will be coming here next week too, can we still knock your door and show you something more about Jehovah? I said, yes but don’t come early like this again because I was in the middle of a sleep. Then they said, oh we are so sorry.

That is how our friendship began, and since then other Jehovah’s witnesses have been coming to me. This sometimes confuses me, so I do ask myself most of the time, why do Jehovah’s Witnesses keep knocking on my door? Is it because they need something from me? I thought of asking them why they always knock on my door but I asked a friend who is also a Jehovah witness rather. His name is Daniel, for him he doesn’t knock on people’s door but most of the time, I often see him on the roadside giving books to others.

So I approached Daniel one day and asked him why his peoples keep knocking on my door as if I owe them. He laughed and said, “You don’t owe them Justice, those brothers and sisters just love you. They have seen that you have an interest in knowing more about God so they want to help you” help me in what way? I said. To learn more about Jehovah, he said. But Daniel I don’t want to be a Jehovah witness to be knocking on others door every day as they do.  Oh no, you don’t get it Justice, they just want to help you to learn something about Jehovah, is not that they want you to become one of us. That is great because I never want to be one of you, I said. But Daniel, tell me, what if they later say that all what they have been teaching me, I should pay for it? No everything is free Justice, he answered.

So that day, I got an answer to my question on why Jehovah’s witnesses keep knocking on my door. I found that their main reason is to help everyone to know something about the bible but not to force peoples to become one of them. And yes up to now, this couple still knocks on my door and they have never asked me to stop my church and join them. Currently, I don’t know if they will later do, but Daniel has assured me that they are just interested in helping me to know more about what is in the bible.

You have almost gotten the point but there is one “powerful” question you must know below…

When Jehovah witnesses knocks on your door, should you respond or allow them in?

This reminds me of my last year in college. I and my mates did meet many of them in the street. Sometimes, they will give us a book on which I don’t remember opening a single page of it. Sometimes when they give me any book, I will just walk a few steps away from them and throw it somewhere. If you are Jehovah’s witness please comment below, does this also mean your peoples were interested in helping me to learn more about God?

Upon what my friend Daniel told me. I will say that if any Jehovah witness man or woman knocks on your door, if you are ready to learn something about God, just let them in. If you think you are not interested but you are kind of busy so they should go, just tell them and they will go. Never fight with them. Remember they are just interested in sharing what they know from the bible to others. So if you don’t want such knowledge, just tell them to go and they will. But if you are interested in their teachings and you still want to keep them knocking on your door, then allow them in because immediately you allow them in, they will keep coming all the time.  That was exactly what they did to me in the beginning, it was kind of annoying somehow but now we are kind of friends.

Okay getting to the final part on why do Jehovah witnesses keep knocking on my door?

Final thought on Why Jehovah’s witnesses keep knocking on Peoples door?

Daniel a Baptized Jehovah’s witnessed who is currently working at Betel. By the way, I actually don’t have much idea what Betel is to Jehovah’s witnesses but Daniel told me on the phone that is a place where most grown elders of the congregation and others baptized witnesses have dedicated their time for serving Jehovah. I don’t know if I got this right, but I remember he told me is a place where they research and work on their books.

Daniel told me that the main purpose of Jehovah’s witnesses is to help everyone to know something about the kingdom of God through bible teachings but not necessary to force peoples to join their religion or to report to their kingdom halls. He continued that, they do invite people to most of their meetings but they don’t actually force peoples to attend such meetings. If you wish you to go, just go and if you don’t they won’t come and kill you. So don’t look down on Jehovah’s witnesses. Remember, everyone has his own religion, if you think yours is the true religion, just live in and don’t condemn others. We were all created in an image of God we shouldn’t let religion brings conflict or separate us.
